Lessons in Praying: Part 4

When I look back at my life, I can see many of the ways that God has been faithful.  He has opened doors and closed others, and yet He has always made good come out of everything.  When we pray, this is the God we are praying to!  Therefore, we can pray with hope and watch expectantly.  Instead of thinking, "If You can," let us think, "I can't wait to see how You answer this one."

I once heard something from Oswald Chambers about breathless expectancy.  Some of us (myself included) are so overwhelmed with the uncertainties of life.  Instead, we need to change our focus to the CERTAINTY of our GOOD GOD and wait with breathless expectancy.

We know in our hearts that God is faithful, but I really don't think our human minds can grasp that reality because we have never fully experienced it.  Even though I have many wonderful people in my life, they are bound to let me down and I'm going to let them down as well.  Our Father designed us this way because we aren't meant to fulfill each other!  ONLY GOD CAN FILL US!  He is the only One who will never disappoint.

Psalm 145:4 – “One generation commends Your works to another; they tell of your mighty acts.”  It’s my prayer that we can recognize God’s faithfulness and share this with generations to come.  I yearn for my kids to see how good and faithful the Lord is as I share stories with them.  If I am not recognizing His goodness myself, how can I possibly share with them

One practical way we do this in our family is by using our Faithfulness Jar.  When we have prayer requests, we nail them to our Surrender™ Cross.  Once those are answered, we put them in our jar and have a little praise party.  It has been such a neat way to recognize all that God has done.

I truly believe that the more we are aware of God’s goodness, and the more we see the amazing ways He has worked in our lives, the more we will begin to trust Him in every area.
