4 Prayers I Pray Daily

"This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to Hiis will, He hears us." I John 5:14  How amazing is it that the God of the universe wants a relationship with us and He hears our prayers!  Here are four of the prayers that I pray each morning as I surrender to the Lord!

1. Lord please help me obediently take the next best steps. Please align the desires in my heart to Your will.

I think so often we tend to look ahead at all the future steps that we become paralyzed in being obedient to the single step God is asking us to take.  The uncertainties of tomorrow can be daunting, and too often, we choose to play it safe and not make any move at all.  My prayer is that God will just reveal that next step that He wants me to take, and that I can walk forward in obedience --- even if I don't know what steps 2 or 3 are.

Psalm 37:4 says, "Delight yourself in the LORD, and He will give you the desires of your heart."  I know that my desires and God's desires may not always be the same, so I specifically pray that my passions align with His will.   We have such a loving and generous Father, and I trust that He will only give me what He sees is for my good.

2.  Let me be faithful in ALL things.

Early each year, Rick and I go away on a vision retreat to create a plan for the upcoming year.  We pray and look at our relationship, our kids, our finances, and how we are spending our time, and come up with unified goals.

This year, we chose our family Bible verse as Matthew 25:23- ""His master replied, 'Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master's happiness!'"  It is so easy to go into auto-pilot mode and coast through life, just putting out fires that flame up.  Instead, we want to live intentionally as we seek wisdom from the Lord.

Even though we fall short on this daily, I pray that God will empower me to be His faithful servant in all the small areas, so that I can be trusted to do more for His kingdom!

3. Open doors widely or close them loudly.

About a year before we started RAD JOY, we were in a season of unrest in our lives.   Rick was working at a local oil and gas company, and I was staying at home with our children.  Things were good, and yet we felt like God was calling us to more, but we just didn't know what that was.  I started praying that God would open the doors widely or close them loudly.  I wanted His will to be SO evident that I wouldn't miss it.  I know our God is not a God of confusion, but one of clarity, and so I prayed that His will for our lives would be crystal clear.

The night that Rick lost his job, and he came home to tell me - I actually laughed. I knew that God had answered this prayer that I started to pray months before.  It was so evident that He had closed the door to Rick's previous job, and that He had opened the doors to RAD JOY!  Not quite the answer I was looking for, but His ways are always better!

This is still one of my favorite prayers as I seek Him and what He has in store for my family!

4. Let me build a brand for YOU!

As our pastor was teaching on the Tower of Babel one Sunday, we discussed how the people were striving to build the Tower to great heights so that they would look good.  He challenged us to consider how often we do things for our own glorification versus for the glory of God.  This really hit home with me, and I had to confess my sinful desires.

In 2 Corinthians 5:20, we are reminded that we are "Christ's ambassadors."  What a beautiful privilege we have to share Christ's love with others.  My prayer is that my motives and desires are pure and that I seek to glorify HIM in all things!!

I hope that these prayers have blessed you, and that you can start to adopt them into your prayer life. More important than the words we speak, I pray that we can go to God with an open heart that is seeking HIM!
